Halcyon Interiors Co. is a full service Interior Architecture & Design studio driven by the belief that good design is not just aesthetically pleasing but is essential to our well-being. We serve clients in Northern Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC and throughout the country. Our studio is built on the belief that design impacts the way we move through the world and favor homes that provide warmth and comfort and are a reprieve from the pressures of everyday life. Shayla LaFreniere
FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL DESIGNER
A minimalist at heart Shayla believes in carefully edited interiors that feel deeply intentional where each element carries a sense of both beauty and purpose. Shayla firmly believes in the emotional and psychological benefit of having a beautiful home and the deep value in loving where you live. She believes that home should be a sanctuary and strives to create a sense of quiet calm in all of her designs.
Inspired by classic European modernism her spaces lend an air of sophistication while remaining warm, easeful, and wholly livable. She believes in respecting the architecture of each space and the aesthetic of each client to create spaces that are unique to each project rather than speaking to one specific style.
Prior to launching Halcyon Interiors Co. Shayla worked as a designer for a national Fortune 500 Luxury Home Builder and as the lead designer for a Design Build firm specializing in high-end luxury Custom Home Builds and Renovations.
Shayla’s innate ability to see a home’s potential and her intimate understanding of the design and construction process, results in projects that are efficiently managed and thoughtfully executed to ensure that no design detail is left unturned.

Christopher
OPERATIONS & SITE TECHNICIAN
With a background in engineering and an in-depth knowledge of construction Christopher ensures that every project runs smoothly during the implementation phase.
His expertise shines when it comes to working with the Builder, Contractor, and Trades to solve complex challenges with creative and practical solutions that help to ensure that our designs are implemented as envisioned. Known for his friendly personality and exceptional interpersonal and mentoring skills, Christopher makes working on projects a seamless and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
His dedication to quality and a collaborative hands-on approach makes him an invaluable asset to our design firm and client projects.
Sebastian
TECHNICAL DESIGNER
Sebastian brings creativity, precision, and practical expertise to our interior design process. Working closely with the design team, Sebastian translates design concepts into detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation that support a smooth path from concept to completion.
With a strong understanding of materials, construction methods, cabinetry, millwork, and spatial coordination, he helps ensure that each project is both visually compelling and technically resolved. His technical, detail-oriented approach allows him to balance the design vision with the practical requirements of each space, contributing to interiors that are functional, cohesive, and built to last.

ACCOUNTING & PROCUREMENT
Our Accounting and Procurement team helps bring each interior design project from vision to completion. From budgeting and financial coordination to sourcing, purchasing, vendor management, and delivery tracking, they ensure every detail is thoughtfully managed behind the scenes.
Working closely with our designers and trade partners, the team keeps projects organized, timelines moving, and investments aligned with each project’s goals. Their attention to detail, strong industry relationships, and commitment to responsive service support a seamless experience from initial selection through final installation.
