Project Overview

These clients hired us shortly after moving into their new build production home. We took this home from builder basic to bespoke by adding custom details like ceiling beams and wall and ceiling millwork throughout the main floor.

This beautiful home backs to woods and has gorgeous views of greenery from almost every window. The way the light changes throughout the day due to the surrounding trees was at the forefront of our minds when choosing the color palette. We wanted to choose colors that would add both warmth and lightness to compliment the home’s natural light and surroundings.

The homeowners; are from Morocco (the husband) and Vietnam (the wife) and share the home with their two young sons. Our goal was to design a home that subtly referenced their style and cultures and felt approachable, layered, and family friendly.

Scope of Services

Full Service | Interior Architecture with Full Furnishing & Styling

Interior Architecture & Design, Project Management, Custom Millwork and Built-In Design and Elevation Drawings, Space Planning, Lighting, Window Treatments, Textiles, Furnishing and Decor Sourcing and Procurement, Art Curation, and final Installation and Styling to deliver a fully realized space.

A Warm and Inviting Entry Foyer

The subtle millwork detail in a contrasting paint color adds visual interest to the 20’ Entry wall. The brass sconces combined with the daybed in a luscious camel velvet on one side and the warm wood console on the other create a deep sense of welcoming and homeliness.

The end result is an Entry Foyer that warmly embraces everyone who enters the home.

A Warm and Layered Living Room

Adding the wood ceiling beams and making a few updates to the fireplace added much needed warmth and character to the Living Room in this new build home.

Surrounded by trees, the natural light in this home is often muted and dappled so we chose a mix of cream fabrics for the sofa and swivel chairs to reflect light and then grounded the room with a large area rug with the most gorgeous pattern and warm tones. We completed the space with a large solid wood coffee table in natural warm white oak, a dark wood console and side table, a brown leather chair, two soft ottomans in a deep marigold fabric, and a mix of textiles, art, and decor that add layers of texture and visual interest.

The end result is a cozy, layered, and comfortable Living Room that reflects the homeowners and feels like a warm hug.

A Casual and Formal Dining Space

The Dining Room is open to the Kitchen and Living Room which can feel more casual but because it is the only dining area in the home we wanted to design a space that would feel relaxed enough for the family’s daily meals while also feeling formal enough for special occasions and holiday gatherings.

We removed a poorly constructed bench that had been built out of drywall and had been placed asymmetrically in the room in a way that adversely affected the rooms layout. To highlight the beautiful cathedral ceiling we added a shiplap ceiling and painted it in the same contrasting color we used in the Entry Foyer. The large extendable solid wood dining table provides room for ample seating, and the black leather chairs that can easily be wiped clean makes the space functional and friendly for daily use, while the boucle head chairs add softness, texture, and a touch of formality.

The end result is a simple but stunning dining room that creates an elevated experience for all occasions.

“Shayla! It was incredible coming home to our perfectly curated home.
Everything is so beautiful, welcoming and relaxing.”
